Dirty Dash-Eugene, Oregon!

Can't wait for next year!!!
Yesterday Jake and I did The Dirty Dash.  It's a mud run/obstacle course and proceeds go to benefit charities like the YMCA and Big Brothers/Big Sisters.  For more info and the race, or to sign up and participate in one of the events, check them out here: http://www.thedirtydash.com/

We had an awesome time!!!  These are pics from before and after that we took with my regular camera.  We also took a disposable waterproof camera with us during the race, and once I get those developed I will post more pics of us actually during the race, if any of them turned out!!!  It was a muddy good time!!  Jake and I did it with the assistant at my office.  Her name is Jayme, and she did awesome and had a great time as well!!  Next year we want to get more people to sign up with us and take a big group!!

Puppies in the Ocean at Whiskey Run Beach near Bandon, OR

Deuce and Molly running into the ocean after their ball

Molly and Deuce looking for their ball

They are both SWIMMING!!!!

Molly is swimming in, and Deuce is waiting for her so he can just steal the ball without having to do any hard work.  :)

We found this homeless shelter!!  Ha ha.

Newport, OR

Today Jake and I took a day trip to Newport, OR.  We had lunch/dinner at a sweet Irish pub downtown near Nye Beach.  It was so good!

This is Nye Beach!!!

Then we found a trail down to Agate Beach to explore and I found this neat tree branch to almost hang off of.
This is the dock that washed up on Agate Beach in Newport, OR, from Japan!!!!!

Me on top of the Japanese dock!

Jake on the dock!!  It took about a year for this thing to float to the coast after the earthquake in Japan that happened last year.

Really cool rock we found on Agate Beach in Newport, OR

Jake and I on the dock from Japan.  And no, I did not purposely style my hair this crazily.  It was SUPER windy outside.

We found this starfish in a tide pool at Devil's Churn on the way back to Coos Bay!!

It was a really fun trip!!!  The next pic is from a couple of weeks ago, but it is one of my new favorites so I will share:

This is me with our yellow lab mix, Molly!!  I love her!!!!!

Pocatello Fire

Yesterday a fire started in Pocatello, Idaho. Jake was born and raised there, and I have lived in Pocatello for 7 years. We still own a house there! Thankfully, the fire wasn't anywhere near our home, but for so many others they were not as lucky. Reports are now saying 66 homes were lost, and 29 additional buildings burned. Many pets and livestock gone.  The pictures being posted on Facebook are devastating, and it is hard for me to comprehend that they are real. No real word yet on the cause of the fire. I have read different speculations ranging from a kitchen fire that got out of control to the fire being blamed on fireworks. Our hearts go out to all our friends and family and the community of Pocatello as they dealwith this tragedy.

Sheldie!!

So my youngest little brother calls me about a week ago and asks me for my address so he can send me something in the mail.  I assume he wants to send me a birthday card for my upcoming birthday, so I give it to him.  Then he calls me on Thursday to ask me if I got anything in the mail yet.  I say no, I haven't seen anything.  He says, "You're gonna flip when you see it."

Ok!!  So Friday night he calls me again, and I answer the phone with, "I didn't get anything in the mail today either!"

He says, "Well, I'm sure it's on it's way.  But I have a question.  Where is Sunset Middle School, home of the dolphins?"

"It's like a block from my house.  Why?"

"Because that's where I am right now!!!"   WHAT!?!?!?!?!?!

I went outside to see him drive right by my house!!  I was so excited, I DID almost flip!!!

Here are some pics from our adventures this weekend:

These are called "The Tall Ships".  I guess they come to Coos Bay every year for a little over a week

One is the Hawaiian Chieftain and the other is the Lady Washington

This one's a little self-explanatory.  LOL.  This is on the boardwalk in Bandon, OR

Sheldie walking out on the jetty.  I didn't go out quite that far.  The waves were getting bigger and it was wet and slippery.  And I can't swim.  So I didn't want to fall in.  :)  But Sheldie is a sailor, so he's good!!  :)

Molly and Sheldie on our way back to Coos Bay after our adventures.
We also went to Mingus Park (see previous posts!), and Sheldie found the skate park in town (of course), so we had to visit, even though he didn't have his skateboard.  We saw The Avengers movie too, which is AWESOME!  I've actually seen it twice now!!  I saw it twice within 24 hours!!  ha ha.  Seriously.  Go see it.
